Haru Diary
Terms of Service
These Terms explain the conditions for using the Haru Diary app, including subscriptions, data storage, AI features, and the rights and responsibilities of users. Some features use generative AI; how that data is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy.
1. Purpose
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") set out the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between the operator of Harufactory (the "Operator") and users in relation to the use of the Haru Diary app ("하루일기", the "App") provided by the Operator.
2. Definitions
- "App" means the Haru Diary mobile application and related services provided by the Operator.
- "User" means a person who installs or uses the App under these Terms.
- "Account" means the unit of user identification created or signed in to in order to use certain features such as backup, restore, and subscription status management.
- "Diary Data" means the content created by the User in the App, including diary text, mood or emotion records, and attached photos.
- "Pass" means a paid feature or subscription product offered within the App, such as backup.
3. Effect and Amendment of the Terms
These Terms take effect when posted in the App or on a web page provided by the Operator.
The Operator may amend the Terms to the extent that doing so does not violate applicable law, and will give notice of material changes in the App or on the web page. A User who does not agree to the amended Terms may stop using the App or request deletion of their account.
4. Provision of the Service
The Operator provides Users with the following features.
- Writing, editing, deleting, and viewing diary entries
- Recording moods or emotions and managing attached photos
- AI features such as writing through conversation with AI Haru, sentence polishing, handwriting photo conversion, and the monthly look-back (letter)
- Voice input (dictation)
- Home screen widgets and shortcuts through widgets
- Optional account sign-in, cloud backup, and restore
- Additional features that support personal journaling, such as app lock, reminders, and multiple languages (Korean, Japanese, English)
When an AI feature is used, the diary text and photos written by the User are sent to an external generative AI (Google Gemini) for processing. AI features operate only if the User agreed to this when first using them, and the specifics of that processing are set out in the Privacy Policy.
Some features may be limited depending on the device, operating system, app version, network conditions, whether the User is signed in, whether a Pass has been purchased, and whether permissions such as microphone or photos have been granted.
5. Storage and Backup of Diary Data
The App stores the User's Diary Data on the User's device by default. If the User turns on the backup feature or uses account features, Diary Data and related information may be stored on external services used by the Operator (such as Firebase).
The User is responsible for backing up and managing their own important Diary Data. Data may be lost through loss of the device, deletion of the App, operating system errors, mistaken operation by the User, or network failures.
6. Account and Security
The User must keep their account information accurate, and is responsible for managing access to the account and the account password.
The Operator is not liable for damage arising where account information is disclosed through the User's intent or negligence, or where a third party uses the account. Where the Operator has acted intentionally or with gross negligence, applicable law governs.
7. Paid Passes, Subscriptions, and Payment
The App may offer certain features as paid Passes or subscription products. The price, term, and included features of paid products are shown on the in-app purchase screen or the app store screen.
Payment is processed through the payment system of the app store, such as the Apple App Store or Google Play, and the Operator does not directly store payment method information such as card numbers. Receipt validation and management of renewal and restore status for subscriptions are carried out through a subscription management service (RevenueCat).
Unless the User cancels, subscription products may renew automatically in accordance with app store policy. Cancelling a subscription, checking payment history, and requesting a refund follow the policies and procedures of the app store where the purchase was made.
8. Refunds and Withdrawal of Subscription
Refunds and withdrawal of subscription for in-app purchases follow the policy of the app store where the User paid, such as the Apple App Store or Google Play, and applicable law.
When the Operator receives an inquiry, it may help confirm payment and Pass status to the extent it can verify them, but final refund approval and processing for app store payments follow that app store's procedures.
9. Obligations of the User
While using the App, the User must not do any of the following.
- Use another person's account or payment information without authorisation
- Interfere with the normal operation of the App, or place an excessive load on servers or networks
- Reverse engineer, modify, or automate the App, or circumvent its security features
- Store, transmit, or share content that violates applicable law or public order and morals
- Infringe the rights, reputation, credit, or personal information of the Operator or a third party
10. Change, Suspension, and Termination of the Service
The Operator may change, temporarily suspend, or discontinue all or part of the App for reasons such as improving the App, maintaining security, technical necessity, policy changes at external service providers, or operational grounds.
Where there is a material change to or discontinuation of the service, notice will be given in advance to the extent possible. However, notice may be given afterwards where unavoidable, such as for security problems, outages, or emergency maintenance.
11. Intellectual Property
Rights in the materials provided by the Operator, including the App's design, code, logo, service name, UI, and content, belong to the Operator or the rightful holder.
Rights in the Diary Data written by the User belong to the User, and the Operator processes it only to the extent necessary for providing the service, backup, restore, and responding to inquiries.
12. Protection of Personal Information
Where the Operator processes personal information in connection with use of the App, it does so in accordance with the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is available in the App or on a web page provided by the Operator.
13. Limitation of Liability
The Operator is not liable for service disruption or damage arising from causes outside its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, communication network failures, outages at app stores or external services, the User's device environment, or causes attributable to the User.
The App is a tool to support personal journaling and does not provide professional advice on medical, psychological, legal, or financial matters. The User is responsible for what they record in the App and for decisions made using it.
Sentences, letters, and conversion results generated by the App's AI features are intended as references and may be inaccurate or incomplete. The User must not treat AI-generated content as established fact, and is responsible for decisions and outcomes based on it.
14. Use by Minors
Children under the age of 14 may not use the App's account features or paid purchase features. Where a minor purchases a paid product, the consent of a legal representative may be required, and related matters follow app store policy and applicable law.
15. Termination of the Use Agreement
The User may stop using or delete the App at any time. A User who has created an account may request deletion of that account through a feature in the App or through the contact address.
If the User violates these Terms or applicable law, the Operator may take necessary measures such as restricting use, suspending the account, or deleting data.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute arises in connection with use of the App, the Operator and the User will endeavour to resolve it through good-faith discussion.
A dispute that is not resolved by discussion follows the procedures and the competent court determined by applicable law.
17. Contact
Inquiries about using the App, checking payment status, accounts, or these Terms may be sent to the address below.

18. Supplementary Provisions
These Terms take effect from 23 June 2026, and the version amended on 13 August 2026 takes effect immediately upon posting. In this amendment, the advertising provisions were removed because the App no longer serves advertisements.
